Key West Flats - Bonefish and Permit

Another great day on the flats in Key West.  It feels and looks a lot like April or May.  Warm water, warm air, lots of tarpon, permit and bonefish on the flats.  Key West fishing is just plain awesome right now and according to the weather man we are in for at least a few more days of great weather.

I fished with Rick from Rhode Island today.  We had a lot of short shots at tarpon this morning.  They were fairly deep 5 - 6 foot of water and tough to see.  Most of our shots were inside of 30 feet, a little too close in most cases.  We fished a few flats out west and had several shots with fly rod at permit, finally catching one a live crab and a few shots at bonefish landing one on fly and had another eat and race toward the boat only to come undone.
